About La Puerta de Syria

Nestled in the heart of Granada’s Centro district, this Syrian eatery offers a calm and cozy refuge with a subtle soundtrack of flowing water and gentle Arabic melodies. It’s a spot where you can enjoy generously sized plates that showcase a variety of Middle Eastern flavors—think lentil soups, fresh dips, falafel, grape leaves, and comforting meat skewers. Visitors often come here for both lunch and dinner, drawn by the casual yet trendy atmosphere that suits solo diners, groups, and even families with kids.

The interior feels quietly inviting, balancing a friendly pace of service with attentive staff who help create a relaxed dining experience. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a more leisurely meal, the space encourages taking a moment away from Granada’s bustling streets. Alongside the food, many appreciate the options for strong coffee and mint tea, which pair well with lighter desserts like refreshing rice pudding featuring cinnamon and pistachios.

Those who enjoy healthy choices and vegetarian-friendly dishes will find plenty to like here, as the menu supports diverse tastes without overwhelming. The environment is accessible, with a welcoming entrance and a quiet vibe that resonates particularly well with college students, tourists interested in exploring local flavors, and anyone looking for an approachable, grounded place to pause in the center of the city.

What Locals Say

Incredible portion sizes, delicious food (as middle easterners), and lovely interior atmosphere. You can eat to the sound of water flowing from tiled basins and gentle Arabic music. The servers were very efficient- we were all hungry from a day of walking and barely had to wait at all. Highly recommend trying their rice pudding- it’s so refreshing, had pistachios and cinnamon and not too sweet. Such an underrated restaurant!

An excellent spot for enjoying Syrian cuisine. Everything we ordered had a distinct and flavourful taste. Service was fast and friendly. Servings were plentiful and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. Would certainly recommend if you're visiting Granada.

Popped in for dinner. Efficient friendly service and the food was really good. Wife's falafel was some of the best we've had and daughter's meat skewers were delicious. My plate was well put together and tasty enough but not quite what I expected and I doubt I would get it again. But there's plenty of other stuff on the menu to try.

We really enjoyed our time at Puerta de Syria! We had amazing spread of food including lentil soup, fatpush salad, moutabal dip, falafel, grape leaves and puta bread. It was all absolutely delicious! The staff was attentive and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxes. Highly recommend. As a side note to the owner. We noticed a small bird in a cage outside the restaurant. The bird was singing his heart out and we felt bad the he has been confined to a life in such a small cage. We hope you will consider setting him free to live a life in the wild!
